He was the second son of Sheikh Mohammad Ali Dam\u0101vandi, known as Mirz\u0101 Moallem, a learned and cultured man who had gained entry to the royal court during the reign of Fath Ali Sh\u0101h Qajar. During Mohammad Sh\u0101h\u2019s reign, Mohammad\u2019s father rose to such prominence that he was later recognized in the T\u0101rikh-e Montazam-e N\u0101seri as one of the official educators of the government.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mirz\u0101 Moallem was an advisor to Amir Kabir and played a crucial role in the conquest of Her\u0101t by providing consultation to Mor\u0101d Mirz\u0101 Hess\u0101m al-Saltaneh and managing correspondence between the army command and the capital. He served for years as the secretary to Iran&#8217;s Minister of Defense before returning to his primary vocation as an educator, training Qajar princes during his retirement. Mohammad Dam\u0101vandi received his initial education from his father, Mirz\u0101 Moallem, before attending the prestigious Sadr School in Tehr\u0101n alongside his elder brother.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0At this school, he met his first vocal coach, Seyyed Jafar L\u0101hiji, and began his vocal training. He practiced in the moats surrounding the capital, enduring great hardships to refine his raw but promising voice. Upon graduation, he moved to Isfah\u0101n to study music under Seyyed Rahim Isfah\u0101ni at the recommendation of his teacher. As a young man, Mohammad\u00a0 sought\u00a0 financial independence\u00a0 and applied for positions in various government offices, eventually joining the Ghourkhaneh\u200c(Arsenal).<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This role brought him into contact with Haj Ali Gholi Kh\u0101n Bakhti\u0101ri. Frequent visits to the residence of Sard\u0101r As&#8217;ad Bakhti\u0101ri, a hub for intellectual gatherings during the N\u0101ser al-Din Sh\u0101h era, profoundly influenced his societal outlook. Around the same time, his friendship with Abd-ol Hossein Kh\u0101n Sheikh al-Molk, known as Orang (founder of the Iranian Literary Association), deepened. Mohammad\u2019s melodious voice and numerous performances earned him widespread popularity. In 1895, he was honored with the title Djen\u0101b (equivalent to \u201cSir\u201d in England) by N\u0101ser al-Din Sh\u0101h Qajar. From then on, he was known as Sheikh Mohammad Djen\u0101b Dam\u0101vandi, frequently traveling across the country to perform at national and religious events. He was also a key witness to the assassination of N\u0101ser al-Din Sh\u0101h in May 1896.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section justify;\">Djen\u0101b trained notable singers like Eghb\u0101l ol-Solt\u0101n (Eghb\u0101l Azar) and Qamar al-Molouk Vaziri while mentoring young vocalists at private sessions. The turbulent years of World War II brought challenges, including the disappearance of his younger brother, the persecution of close friends and politicians, and his brief imprisonment by British forces occupying Iran.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Djen\u0101b Dam\u0101vandi was a generous philanthropist, contributing extensively to his hometown. Among his many acts of charity was donating a 2,500-square-meter garden to establish the first school in Ahmad\u0101b\u0101d village. Even after retiring in 1953, he remained active, advising local and government organizations in Dam\u0101vand well into his nineties.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1971, the late Badiz\u0101deh and Sh\u0101hrokh N\u0101deri conducted a detailed radio interview with Djen\u0101b Dam\u0101vandi for the \u201cFriday Morning with You\u201d program, hosted by Manouchehr Nozari. This recording, one of the most important surviving documents about him, features a vibrant centenarian sharing anecdotes with humor and vitality.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his final days, the late filmmaker Khosrow Sin\u0101i produced a short documentary about him.
