Song No 3: Afshāri (1)
A remarkable aspect of this recording session was the collaboration between a 40-year-old singer at the height of his fame and experience, and a 14-year-old musician who was, until then, unknown in artistic circles. At the end of the first day's recording, Mirzā Hossein Gholi Khān suggested that Djenāb Damāvandi record a joint performance with his son, Ali Akbar Khān Shahnāzi. This collaboration between two generations, brought to life through a poem by Adib Neishābouri and performed in the Afshāri style (a subset of the Shour mode), created one of the most significant pages in the history of Iranian music. Another noteworthy detail is a comment made at the end of the recording by Mirzā Asadollāh Khān Atabaki. He said, “Agha Alia Akbar, the son of the honorable Mirzā Hossein Gholi, is only 14 years old and accompanies Djenāb Damāvandi with his playing. Māshāllāh.”

Afshāri 1 Lyrics
May God never separate me from you, O moon-faced one
May I never endure the torment of your absence, my beloved
If you want to strike our hearts with the stone of cruelty,
Strike so that if it breaks, no sound is made
