Djenāb Damāvandi’s Second Recordings - 1928

In the winter of 1928, the business of Ezra Mirhakak, a Jewish merchant residing in Iraq, transferred the representation of His Master’s Voice in the cities of Baghdād, Basra, and Tehrān to another agency. This allowed the opportunity for the third series of Iranian singers to be recorded and released through his other agency. As a result, sound engineers from the Polyphon company traveled to Iran to record the works of artists such as Ghamar-ol-Molouk Vaziri, Djenāb Damāvandi, Ali Asghar Kordestāni, Monsieur Hāyk, Toyouri, Sanjarāni, Nayereh Azam Roumi, and several others, including some members of the Higher School of Music. They began recording using the new electric technology.

Sixteen years after the first series of Djenāb Damāvandi's recordings, at the age of 56, he went to the Mir-hakkāk Trading House's studio located on Cherāgh Bargh Street to record about 10 unique pieces.
He was accompanied by the Tār of Mortezā Khān Ney‌-‌Dāvoud and the violin of his brother, Mousā Khān Ney‌-Dāvoud. The voice heard from Djenāb Damāvandi during this period reflects his full vocal range (the ability to sing in both lower and higher octaves)
