Presence of Prominent Masters of Traditional Music

The event began with a warm reception from the audience and featured a variety of programs, each of which in its own way revived the memory of this distinguished figure. In the opening segment, a short version of the documentary on the life of Djenab Damavandi was shown. This documentary, carefully and delicately produced by a team of researchers and filmmakers, depicted aspects of his adventurous life and artistic achievements. From his childhood in Ahmadabad Damavand to studying under great vocal masters such as Seyyed Abdulrahim Isfahani, and from his brilliant performances at the Qajar court to his involvement in the Constitutional Revolution, this short film opened a window into the life of a man whose voice shaped a part of Iran's cultural identity.

Unveiling of the Documentary and Book

One of the most prominent moments of this commemoration was the unveiling of the book "The Complete Works of Master Djenab Damavandi." This valuable book, which was compiled and written after years of research and tireless effort, is the result of the love and dedication of Kian Fallahi, the grandson of Master Djenab Damavandi, to preserving the artistic and historical heritage of his family. Relying on family documents, rare archives, and historical records, the book meticulously chronicles the life and artistic activities of Master Djenab. From the recording of his works with the Gramophone Company in 1912 to teaching students such as Ghamar al-Molouk Vaziri and Eghbal Azar, this book not only provides a comprehensive biography of him but also clarifies his position in the evolution of traditional Iranian music.

During the unveiling ceremony, Kian Fallahi shared a few words about his motivation for this work and emphasized that this piece is a tribute to his grandfather and all the artists who strived to elevate Iranian culture. This ceremony was not only a tribute to Master Djenab Damavandi but also an opportunity to reflect on the significance of traditional music as an integral part of Iran’s cultural identity. The presence of the younger generation alongside seasoned masters promised a renewed connection between the past and the future of this noble art.

At the conclusion of the event, attendees expressed their delight at such a gathering and called for the continuation of similar programs to introduce other lesser-known or forgotten figures of Iranian music. With all its remarkable aspects, the Commemoration of Master Djenab Damavandi was a valuable step toward honoring a legacy that he left behind with his timeless voice.
